1. High Fidelity by Nick Hornbykayaknya udah ga usah dijelasin lagi kenapa buku ini berada di
no.1 top of my li
makasih buat
temen-temen[banyak yang rekomen ke gw,
no need to mention their names] yang udah merekomendasikan buku ini dan secara tidak langsung sudah sukses membuat saya
i.r.i karena mereka udah baca buku ini, sementara saya belum.
2. A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby Satu lagi buku dari hornby yang gw incar, menceritakan tentang
high fidelity is still better in many ways compared to this book, tapi
tetep gw pengen tau gimana
ending dari novel ini.
Salah satu
alasan gw suka sama hornby adalah cerita-cerita dia selalu
out of the box, menyinggung sesuatu yang
sederhana tapi
kaget setengah mati dicampur rasa
bahagia yang tidak terbendung sambil
senyum-senyum sumringah menahan
euphoria mahadasyat di dalam dada.
UDAH ADA TERJEMAHANNYA BO'!!!!!Buku yang satu ini memang
a must have item, sialnya lagi buku ini belum sempet terbeli karena pada waktu gw melihat buku ini, pas udah mw keluar dari gramedia, berhubung sudah membeli 4 novel yang menyebabkan persediaan dana saya terbatas dan sumber keuangan utama[baca:nyokap] tidak mendampingi saya pada saat itu, alhasil saya menunda kepemilikan buku ini. Menemukan A thousand splendid suns sama seperti melihat pemandangan yang
breathtaking.u
nexplainable expression of me!
“Emosi terpendam, kekuatan cinta, keindahan, keterlarangan, dan kesabaran tanpa batas, semua ditampilkan Khaled Hosseini dalam A Thousand Splendid Suns.”
- O, the Oprah Magazine
4. Into The Wild by Jon KrakauerBased on a true story. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandoned his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life.
Sean Penn, once again he made
a very remarkable movie, "mystic river" is one of
my ultimate fav movie which is directed by Mr. Penn, and "into the wild"
really proof his existence as a director. no wonder filmnya akan sehebat itu! a very movement film!!just watch it guys!
chris:"you got to
get back out in the world, get out of that lonely house and that little workshop of yours. GET BACK OUT ON THE ROAD!Really!your going to live a long time, Ron!
you should make a radical change in your lifestyle.
I mean, the core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences. And there you are, stubborn old man, sitting on your butt "
Ron:"sitting on my butt???"
chris:"yeah.."
read the book, then watch the movie!
5. Naked by David Sedarissalah satu novel yang
kurang familiar bagi gw, tapi
cukup intriguing! once again dari sumber terpercaya yang udah baca buku ini, beliau hanya bilang bahwa buku ini menawarkan humor cerdas khas Sedaris, yang smart dan fresh. one of a kind novel, he said.
"'Naked' by David Sedaris is a collection of several autobiographical stories of his youth. We get to meet his unusual parents, Greek grandmother, and a wide assortment of decidedly strange people and the author struggles to grow up. Most of these stories are humorous but there is some pathos thrown in. None of the stories are especially memorable, and title story 'Naked', about the author's visit to a nudist camp, is surprisingly dull. But David Sedaris is a talented writer; the book reads very well. And although he doesn't have the wit of Augusten Burroughs, an equally famous gay writer who has penned his memoir, his work is every bit as entertaining. Bottom line: a voyeuristic look and someone's misspent youth. Fun stuff."6.
When I first picked up Catch-22, I expected to be bored to death by yet another long and dull novel about war. Within the first chapter, I was surprised to find that the book was funny in a darker and satirical way. At first I thought that this book was about the insanity of war and it's crazy bureaucracy, but upon further reflection I have found this novel to be more about moral decisions and ethics. Sure, Yossarian wanted to be sent home from the war, but he would not okay General Peckem's and Cathcart's theory that it is acceptable to continually raise the number of flight missions, which would endanger the lives of others in the squadron. This huge moral dilemma is the climax of the book, and when Yossarian makes the ethical choice and sacrifices his guaranteed safety for the overall good, the reader is left with a contented feeling. I am glad that I got the opportunity to read Catch-22. I strongly recommend the book to anyone and everyone who has the time to read and enjoy it.7.
The Catcher in the Rye by
J.D. Salinger (Author)
they get something from this book.
a very must read book kalo kata sepupu gw!"Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around-nobody big, I mean-except me. And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff-I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I'd do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it's crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be. I know it's crazy." - Holden Caulfield
8.
Norwegian Wood by
Haruki Murakami (Author),
Jay Rubin (Translator)
negara adidaya, patut untuk di baca bukan?"Memory is a funny thing. When I was in the scene, I hardly paid it any mind. I never stop to think of it as something that would make a lasting impression, certainly never imagined that eighteen years later I would recall it in such detail. I didn't give a damn about the scenery that day. I was thinking about myself. I was thinking about the beautiful girl walking next to me. I was thinking about the two of us together, and then about myself again. It was the age, the time of life when every sight, every feeling, every thought came back, like a boomerang, to me. And worse, I was in love. Love with complications" - Toru
